Use a note in Proton Pass for text you want to keep alongside your logins. Free includes unlimited notes (opens in a new tab); this text-only task needs no paid plan.

Start with fictional details. This example saves a project reminder, not real credentials or recovery codes.

Before you start

You need a Proton account for the Pass web app. Create a Proton Pass Free account (opens in a new tab) or sign in with your existing account. Use fictional reminder text. No paid plan is needed for this note.

1. Create a note

  1. Open the Pass web app (opens in a new tab).
  2. Click Create item, then Note.
  3. Enter Practice project note in Name.
  4. Enter: Fictional example only. Project: garden sketch. Next step: compare two layouts.
  5. Click Create note.

2. Check the saved text

Select the note in the middle list. Its name and text should appear in the right pane. Read the text to check that nothing is missing.

Quick takeaway

A note is a saved text item inside Pass. Give it a name you can search for and reopen it after saving. Keep your first practice note fictional, so a typing mistake or accidental deletion has no real consequence.

3. Find it again

  1. Reload and open All items.
  2. Search for Practice project note.
  3. Select the result and check the complete text.
  4. To change it, click Edit, update the text and click Save. Reopen it to verify the change.

If you cannot find it

Clear the search and check All items rather than one selected collection. Look in Trash if you may have deleted it. Check these places before creating another copy.
